OUR STORY
1959
Grandfather Willy establishes Serpo as a foam factory in Sint-Niklaas, specializing in the production of foam blocks for baby care cushions.
1966
Serpo grows and moves to the industrial park in Sint-Niklaas. Foam cutting becomes the main activity for seating furniture and mattress cores.
1981
The International Bedding Company (Ibeco) is founded, marking the beginning of finished products, primarily pillows with the well-known foam spring as the core.
1983
Purchase of multi-needle machines for the production of duvets.
1985 - 1987
Establishment of sales subsidiaries in Roubaix, Ibeco France (France). Production unit in Cloppenburg (Germany). Start of FTA (filature et tissage d’Auchel) for in-house cotton production in Auchel (France).
1991
Establishment of the Diamond Spring Company (DSC) in Lokeren and the start of COVAMAT Grembergen for mattress confection.
1996
Patent approved for the honeycomb foam spring.
2008
Freya graduates and establishes Slaapkot, a webshop avant la lettre with beds for student dorms.
2009
Establishment of Fabriekswinkels, a concept of pop-up stores for direct sales to consumers.
2012
The success of the foam spring attracts international attention, and a Slovenian investment group purchases the patent, leading to global distribution under the name Dormeo.
2016
Freya launches Tutu Dors, a luxury bedding brand that builds on three generations of experience in the Belgian bedding industry, focusing on high-quality box springs, mattresses, and pillows.
